About

EULAPS is a school of psychosomatics with a psychodynamic approach that gives training to professionals who assist people suffering from somatic diseases.

MISSION

It was created with the aim of:

  • Providing training courses on psychoanalytical psychosomatics and related topics.
  • Promoting theoretical and clinical research in the field of psychosomatics.
  • Encouraging the exchange of knowledge among professionals from different medical specialties, psychoanalysts, psychiatrists and psychotherapists.
  • Developing international joint meetings and publications letting professionals know about the contributions of scientific institutions and authors dedicated to psychoanalytic psychosomatics.

VISSION

The training is addressed to health professionals and university graduates from related fields. Both interested in the mind-body relationship with a psychodynamic perspective. Our psychosomatic conception studies human diseases taking into account the unconscious factors influencing their onset,  evolution, prognosis and treatment. We do not start out on the cause-effect assumption. Thus, we don´t state a psychogenic causality of the somatic diseases, but we have a conviction about the reciprocal influence between psyche and soma.

Without dismissing the importance of evidence, we prioritize the person-based medicine.

We have a broad approach, avoiding dogmatism, and we focus on an open, fluid and fruitful dialogue with general practitioners and specialists.
